THE Sultanate celebrated the 12th Universal Children’s Day (UCD) at the Bandarku Ceria programme at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien yesterday.
The UCD event was organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) through the Community Development Department (JAPEM) in collaboration with the Department of Schools, Ministry of Education (MoE); Health Promotion Centre (HPC), Ministry of Health (MoH); and the Brunei Council on Social Welfare (MKM).
Guest of honour Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Nik Hafimi binti Abdul Haadii officiated the event.
The celebration aimed to raise public awareness on the importance of children’s education and educate children how to protect themselves from being victims of violence, bullying, and exploitation in school.
Activities held include the interactive exhibitions and sharing information from JAPEM, Department of Schools and MKM.
The event was also enlivened with zumba activity with family, face painting, colouring contest, nerf wreck game and prize presentation.
Acting Director of JAPEM Rostinah binti Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Sura Pahlawan Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Tahir, heads of department and senior officials of MCYS, representa-tives from MoE, MoH and MKM were also present.
