All roads leading to schools nationwide are expected to experience traffic jams, as the new school term begins today after a month-long holiday.

Parents have gone on shopping sprees for back-to-school items over the past few weeks in preparation of the new school year.

Many department stores and shops are running mega sales and special ‘back to school’ promotions – the same with shopping malls and some night markets.

At departmental stores, eager and excited schoolchildren have been seen with their parents picking out school uniforms and other school items.

Parents with two or more school-going children will be feeling that tad extra financial pinch as they fork out more to buy new uniforms, shoes, books and other stationery.

Schools across the country are organising briefings on their administration and academic operations and holding orientation for new students starting today – Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) for example, is holding its Freshers’ Week with the Vice Chancellor’s Address.
