THE Law Enforcement Unit of the Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) Municipal Department issued a fine of BND100 on December 31, 2018, to a foreign citizen who was found disposing rubbish in a public area.

It was the final compound fine of the year, bringing the number of violations under the Minor Offences Act to 238 in 2018.

Mahsen Ahmad from Bangladesh was given seven days to settle the fine; failing to do so would result in a further fine of BND1,000, or one month imprisonment for first-time offenders.

For repeat offenders, the penalty is a fine of BND3,000 or imprisonment of up to three months.

To lodge complaints on illegal dumping, contact Darussalam line at 123, or email info@123.com.bn, or send a message via WhatsApp to 8333123.
