THE Brunei Darussalam Masters Softball Team from the Brunei Darussalam Softball and Baseball Association (BASBA) departed to participate in the Softball Masters Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Fifteen athletes led by two officials will compete in the 2nd Women’s Softball Masters Tournament for the second time.
The men’s team is also sending 15 athletes led by two officials for the 4th Men’s Softball Masters Tournament for the third time.
Pengiran Haji Jambul bin Pengiran Haji Sulaiman, Vice President of Brunei Amateur Softball and Baseball Association (BASBA) was present to hand over the national flags to both teams and bid the athletes farewell.
The ceremony started with a recitation of Al-Fatihah followed by a pep talk from the Vice President.
Merdinata, Head Coach of the ladies team commented that their target this year is to get on the podium as they have a chance with Japan and Hong Kong not joining the tournament this year.
Idris, Assistant Manager of the men’s team said they managed to get bronze last year and they will try to get a better result this year.
