THE provision of a meaningful and persistent medium is important in providing opportunities for talented, creative and innovative youth to contribute towards national development, said Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin during the launching of the Malam Minggu Pusat Belia (MMPB), last Saturday evening.
The minister expressed his belief that the Creative Industry Programme would have a great impact in the pursuit of more ideas and initiatives to develop the industry in Brunei Darussalam.
“In exploring the creative industry, it is important for our youth to be constantly united by means of mutual collaboration,” he said.
“In this joint effort, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports will also provide strong support to our youthful creative industry, which encompasses various fields.”
He also disclosed that the ministry is planning several activities this year, to expose talents in various creative fields including digital technology via a Hackathon, film arts with a short film animation event, culinary arts through the Masterchef 2019, and musical arts by staging Gulingtangan and Hadrah contests.
“With this solidarity, it is our wish for the youth to be equally successful in identifying high-impact creative activities and having the potential to be developed locally, as well as in the foreign market,” said the minister.
“Being equally involved in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and digital technology in this era, our ministry is also working to highlight the core values and Bruneian qualities on an international level.
“This is a step forward towards realising the creative industry as a field that will contribute significantly to the country’s development, which must always be based on the philosophical values of the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB).
“Hopefully, with cooperation and by utilising the ‘whole of government and nation’ approach, our ministry and all relevant parties will continue to do the best for the youth and for the future of our country,” said the minister, concluding his speech.
