IN EFFORTS to lessen the burden of victims of a recent house collapse and fire incidents, a presentation of Zakat donation took place yesterday at the new building of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
A total of BND3,400.00 Zakat from the allocation of the Asnaf Fakir Miskin Zakat Fund was presented by Acting Secretary of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) Ustaz Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Akop to victims of the house collapse that occurred in Kampong Saba Darat ‘B’ on December 18, 2018 and victims of house fires in Kampong Mulaut on December 4, 2018 and STKRJ Kampong Tungku on December 29, 2018.
Two houses had been affected in the house collapse incident.
The owner of the first house Md Rizal bin Antong Umar, his wife, two children and one sibling received BND200 each.
The owner of the second house, Md Shahroni bin Haji Mat Nor, his wife and two children received BND200 each, as well as school supplies for the two children.
For the fire incident in STKRJ Kampong Tungku, the owner of the house Awang Haji Mekrat @ Meraj bin Haji Awang, his wife and two children received BND200 each, as well as school supplies for one of the children.
Meanwhile, for the fire incident in Kampong Mulaut, tenant of the house Nana Ruhyana and three of her friends received BND200 each.
According to a press release, the distribution of the Zakat donation is hoped to help lessen the burden of the victims and their families. They were also reminded to be vigilant to avoid such disasters.
