THE Royal Brunei Police Force Sports Council (MS PDB) emerged winners of the 20-rower marathon race category in the Traditional Boat Race Meet 2019 along the Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas yesterday.
PTB ‘A’ finished as runners-up while Juang came in third place in the grand finale of the one-day meet.
MS PDB teams were dominant in the first high-profiled boat race event of the year after winning seven of the 11 categories contested.
MS PDB asserted their dominance with four victories in the first six categories including the 15-rower under-30 category, 15-rower mixed race, 10-rower open category and 10-rower youth category.
Tutong were the next biggest winner with two victories including the 15-rower veteran category. PTB and Juang shared a victory each.
Juang won the 30-year-old youth race category followed by PTB and MS PDB in second and third place, respectively.
MS PDB sealed top place in the 20-rower open category while PTB ‘A’ came second and Saba coming in third.
Tutong were also declared winner of the 10-rower veteran category trailed by PTB ‘A’ in second place. Seri Utama completed the podium in third place.
MS PDB ‘A’ also took the 10-rower mixed race title while Juang came in second place and Leila Cheteria ‘A’ settling for third place.
Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong presented the prizes.
The meet was organised by the village consultative councils of Kampong Kota Batu, Kampong Pintu Malim and Kampong Sungai Lampai with the cooperation of the Brunei-Muara District Office.
