BRUNEI Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) successfully conducted a volunteer programme, entitled ‘90 Acts of Kindness’, at Muhammad Alam Primary School in Seria yesterday, as part of its 90th anniversary celebration.

BSP Senior External Relations Advisor from Communications and External Affairs Department Haji Suffian bin Haji Zainal Abidin led a volunteer group comprising 20 staff members from various departments of BSP to the school.

“The ‘90 Acts of Kindness’ volunteer is part of BSP’s 90th anniversary celebration and represents an enhancement of the existing volunteer programmes in BSP,” said Haji Suffian during an interview.

He said, “The programme is also an opportunity to visit and interact with the students and teachers and learn more about their daily school and lifestyle.”

The programme started with a breakfast session with 83 underprivileged students and children with special needs who are under the school’s Miftahun Najaah Scheme.

The programme continued with a cleaning campaign activity, which includes clearing blockages along the school’s drainage; cutting overgrown grass within the school compound; and painting the walls of the school’s building.

Volunteers donated items such as books, stationery and many more to the students.

The programme aims to give back to the community, foster closer relationship and instil the spirit of volunteerism.

A series of activities have been planned under the programme, which will be carried out throughout the year.
