DOZENS of Kampong Bukit Panggal residents participated in a purifying ceremony at the village’s newly constructed mosque yesterday.
The Kampong Bukit Panggal Mosque is built on a five-acre land and is the second mosque to be built with the allocation of BND3 million under the Brunei Darussalam Mosque Construction Fund.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof was the guest of honour. Officers and staff members from the MoRA and Ministry of Development were also present.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat by Imam of the Kampong Bukit Panggal Mosque Haji Hasmali bin Haji Talip.
The mosque is expected to accommodate up to 1,000 congregants.
The facilities include separate prayer halls for men and women, an office for Imam/Bilal, a classroom, a conference room, a multipurpose room, an administration room, a library and a guest room.
Toilets, separate ablution areas for men and women, separate toilets for people with different abilities (for men and women), a kitchen, a funeral rites administration room, a storage room, an equipment room, and a mechanical and electrical room are also provided.
The ceremony aimed to ensure the purification and cleanliness of the mosque prior to opening doors to the public.
