A TOTAL of 119 Year 7 students of Rimba Secondary School attended a nationhood briefing, organised by the Information Department at the Prime Minister’s Office, at the upper level of the school’s library on Saturday.

The nationhood briefing focussed on the importance of the proper procedures on hoisting and lowering the national flag together with the history, meaning and concept behind the national flag and national anthem.

Deputy Principal of Administration Abdul Halim bin Haji Bujang and the school’s teaching staff also attended the briefing.

Head of the Nationhood Unit of the Information Department Hajah Hamsah binti Datu Kerna Haji Jaya conducted the briefing, which also touched on topics such as ‘Raja Kita’, ‘Appreciating the National Anthem’ and ‘National Flag Hoisting Procedures’.

The students also watched video presentations titled Kibarkan Bendera Negara Dengan Megah and Semarak Pengibaran Bendera Negara, an animation clip titled Tatacara Menaikkan Bendera Negara, as well as a short video clip on the department’s mobile app, InfoDeptBN.

Students participated in a series of quizzes where those who answered correctly received goodie bags from the Information Department.

The briefing is part of an ongoing programme by the Information Department to instil patriotism among students as well as to develop respect and appreciation towards the monarchy, religion and country.
