A HANDING over ceremony to officiate the appointment of Colonel Khairul Hamed bin Haji Lampoh as the new Commandant of the Training Institute of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (TI RBAF) from Colonel Haji Abidin bin Haji Abdul Hamid was held at the Parade Square, TI RBAF, Penanjong Garrison yesterday.
Upon arrival at the parade square, Colonel Haji Abidin bin Haji Abdul Hamid, the outgoing Commandant of TI RBAF, was given the Honorary Salute followed by an inspection of the parade comprising of personnel from the Training Institute under the command of Major Pengiran Haji Nazri Amir bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Md Zain.
Colonel Haji Abidin began his service as a Second Lieutenant on January 13, 1989. His previous appointments included Platoon Commander in the First Batallion Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF). He also served as the Officer Commanding, Officer Development Wing at the Training Institute from 2008 until 2010.
He later served at the RBAF Inspectorate Unit from 2010 until 2015 and was appointed as the Commandant of TI RBAF in September 2015.
Meanwhile, the new TI RBAF Commandant Colonel Khairul Hamed began his service as a Second Lieutenant on 23 July 1991. During his career, he served as a Platoon Commander in the Second Battalion RBLF. He had also served at the Training Institute in 1993 as Intake Commander and in 2002, he served as the Officer Commanding of Recruit Company TI RBAF and was appointed as the Chief Instructor of TI RBAF in 2008.
In addition to that, he was the Chief of Staff, Joint Force Headquarter in 2014 and later became the Chief of Staff, RBLF in 2015.
The handing over ceremony was proceeded with the signing of handing over certificate between Colonel Khairul Hamed and Colonel Haji Abidin. To bless the ceremony, a Doa Selamat was later read by Captain Pengiran Khairuddin bin Pengiran Haji Tali from the RBAF Religious Department.
