AL IDRUS FT overcame potentially the biggest hurdle in their quest for the inaugural Al Idrus FA Cup after edging veteran giants PSJD 2-1 at the Royal Brunei Recreation Centre Field recently.

The round of 16 cup tie involving two of the most respected teams had been billed as the clash of the titans.

Al Idrus, traditional powerhouse in veteran football, will take comfort that they have one less strong rival to contend with, although dark horses AH United could be considered a fresh challenge.

However, the tournament favourites had to come from behind after the Tutong based outfit took the lead through Tommay Kambang’s opener in the 30th minute.

The opening goal of the game indicated the threat the Tutong-based outfit posed but Al Idrus replied through their lethal striker Muhammad Nadzrin bin Abdullah.

The striker has been banging the goals in the league for fun and he was on the mark again in the 54th minute.

Haji Hassan bin Haji Damit came up with a dramatic winner in the late stages of the tie to send his team through to the quarterfinals.

Al Idrus will play TJ FT, who defeated Rimba Star, next for a place in the last four.
