A FULL-DRESS rehearsal to ensure the smooth running of this year’s National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults was held at the International Convention Centre in Berakas yesterday. The competition will run for three consecutive nights until February 14.
On hand to witness the 12 finalists perfecting their Tarannum (melodic) recitation were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara and Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Executive Committee for Major Islamic Events for 1440 Hijrah.
The six female finalists are Hajah Norfaizah binti Haji Emran (defending champion), Hajah Nurul Akmalina binti Haji Yahya, Dayangku Fauziah Nadhirah binti Pengiran Haji Jofri, Dayangku Siti Ummi Syazana binti Pengiran Haji Marjuki, Siti Zahrina binti Abdul Wahab and Dayangku Amal Zahirah binti Pengiran Haji Jofri.
Meanwhile, the six male finalists are Haji Muhammad Fikri bin Haji Awang Metussin (defending champion), Ahmad Zul-Waqar bin Haji Suhaili, Haji Hazwan bin Haji Salim, Haji Muhammad Albi bin Haji Ibrahim, Muhammad bin Ali and Haji Nasrul Fakhri bin Haji Yahaya.
Also present at yesterday’s rehearsal was the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar and the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Working Committee for the National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults 1440 Hijrah.
