FIFTEEN Bruneians were recognised by the Royal Institution (RI) for their personal and professional achievements, including three artisans from Mahkota Crystal Sdn Bhd for their skills and mastery in producing one of a kind glass artwork.
This was announced by Founder and Managing Director of Syarikat Pakar Tenaga Bersatu (PTB) Pengiran Hishamuddin Alli bin Pengiran Jaya Indera Pengiran Haji Mohktar Puteh with Co-Founder and Deputy Managing Director Hajah Normawati binti Dato Paduka Haji Othman at a press conference yesterday.
Over 100 local and international delegates will attend the first Royal Institution Singapore Global Congress and Conferment Ceremony in Brunei Darussalam at The Empire Hotel & Country Club tomorrow and be conferred titles including Doctor Fellow to Member levels.
The event, which concludes on February 28, is organised by the Royal Institution, Singapore and the Philippines in collaboration with PTB.
The event is themed ‘Global Leadership and Its Impact on Sustainable Development’.
Hajah Normawati said PTB wishes to support Brunei Darussalam’s Vision 2035 to become a nation widely recognised for its educated and highly-skilled people.
“In its efforts to enhance the employability of its trainees trained in 2018, over 180 trainees have been issued International Certificates by the Royal Institution, guided by its International Competency Framework to recognise their competency in the international market,” she added.
Several international speakers will also present their papers.
Legislative Council member and President of Institution of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects (PUJA) Brunei Yang Berhormat Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Abdul Rahman will deliver the welcoming address.
Deputy Director, Southeast Asian Ministries of Education Organisation (SEAMEO), Thailand Dr Ethel Agnes P Valenzuela will also speak at the event.
Over 20 research papers will be presented during the Research Colloquium, including a paper on ‘Oil and Gas Industry Updates’ by Jean Paul Gaston Boeldieu, DFRISc, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ELF Aquitaine Oil & Gas Company and Geophysicist Researcher of the National French Science Center, France.
The event also seeks to support and promote Brunei Darussalam as an ideal destination for education, tourism, and investment, and to recognise people who made significant contributions to the country.
The Royal Institution and PTB will collaborate with Big BWN Project, a local brand which focusses on local youth development projects, entrepreneurs and talents for community development, by creating platforms for exposure to build their brands, businesses, skills and talents.
Big BWN Project actively promotes and supports entrepreneurship in Brunei Darussalam and has become one of the local initiatives supporting the country’s Vision 2035 to reach economic prosperity. It also garnered support from local institutions and agencies.
The Royal Institution Singapore Global Conferment Events will be held in Singapore in April and Paris, France in July.
