MORE than 500 people took part yesterday in a jungle walk through the Tasik Sarubing Recreational Park, organised by the Brunei-Muara branch of the Brunei Darussalam Wushu Federation.
Present as the guest of honour was YB Awang Haji Gapor @ Haji Mohd Daud bin Karim, a member of the Legislative Council, who is also the Village Head of Kampong Belimbing. Also in attendance was Ang Swee Chuan, the President of Brunei Darussalam Wushu Federation, as well as leaders from several local Chinese associations.
In his remarks, Kong Yew Peng, the organising chairman, said that the jungle walk was aimed at instilling the routine of exercise for a healthy lifestyle, as well as to build closer ties among the participants from various associations. He also called for more members of the public to take up the martial disciplines of Wushu and T’ai Chi.
The jungle walk was divided into three levels: the 4.7km and 3.7km categories, and the VIP category. Before proceeding with the jungle walk, the participants took part in a warm-up aerobics exercise.
