THE giant-sized national flag at the open area of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex was lowered yesterday, in a ceremony marking the conclusion of the 35th National Day celebrations.
The guest of honour was Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar.
The event began with the recitation of the Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat by a Mosque Affairs Officer Haji Muhd Azrol Alim bin Haji A Zaini.
The giant-sized flag was then lowered by personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy, to the accompaniment of the national anthem as performed by the Royal Brunei Police Force Band and a 70-member choir from the Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School.
Committee members of the Brunei Darussalam 35th National Day celebration, members of the Legislative Council, permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, district officers and representatives from various government agencies were also present.

FLAG-lowering ceremonies were held across Brunei yesterday afternoon to mark the conclusion of 35th National Day celebration.
In the Belait District, the ceremony took place at Menara Cendera Kenangan in Kuala Belait.
The guest of honour was Acting Belait District Officer Ridzuan bin Haji Ahmad.
Heads of various government departments and divisions, mukim penghulus and village heads, members of Mukim and Village Consultative Councils (MPMK), and representatives of various associations and agencies from the Belait District were also present.
The ceremony began with a marching by flag-bearers comprised of personnel of the Royal Brunei Police Force, followed by the singing of the national anthem Allah Peliharakan Sultan led by the Permata 2.0 choir group, champions of the Inter-Mukim Patriotic Songs Choir Competition for the Belait District held earlier this month.
The ceremony concluded with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat by Imam of the Sungai Liang Mosque Mohamad Ikhwan bin Irwandy.
