HIS Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office yesterday held a working visit to Mukim Serasa and the Oil Refinery and Petrochemical Plant at Pulau Muara Besar (PMB).
The arrival of His Royal Highness at the Setia Ali Mosque in Pekan Muara was greeted by Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar and Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof.
Also in attendance were Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Mohd Hussein, and Legislative Council member and Village Head of Kampong Masjid Lama, Pekan Muara, Sabun and Pelumpong Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Mohamed bin Pengiran Haji Osman @ Othman.
Upon arrival at Setia Ali Mosque, a Doa Selamat was recited by Head Imam at the Setia Ali Mosque Nasehin bin Haji Yahya. His Royal Highness then proceeded to inspect the road conditions in Jalan Serasa, and was briefed on the rehabilitation programme of Jalan Serasa and Jalan Perusahaan Serasa by Acting Director of Roads Haji Mazlan bin Haji Abdul Salim.
His Royal Highness then listened to a short briefing on transport activities and the statistics of heavy vehicle offences under the Road Traffic Act 161, Chapter 68 of the Serasa area, as a result of enforcement by Land Transport Department in 2017 and 2018.
The briefing was conducted by Acting Director of Land Transport Haji Rozaly bin Haji Saidon.
His Royal Highness was then invited to the Serasa Casting Yard for the Temburong Bridge Project, while travelling through and observing the current conditions of Jalan Serasa.
Upon arrival at the casting yard, His Royal Highness was greeted by Deputy Minister of Development Haji Marzuke bin Haji Mohsin.
His Royal Highness was later briefed by Junior Site Engineer Muhammad Faizan bin Haji Bakir on the facilities and activities being undertaken at the site, such as the casting of segmental and 50m box girders for the construction of bridge decks, while main activities such as the production of box girders for the Temburong Bridge Project are completed.
His Royal Highness viewed the 578th and last piece of a 50-metre box girder.
The launching of the final two 50-metre box girders was held in the afternoon, which marked another significant milestone of the mega project.
His Royal Highness was then invited to sign a commemorative plaque, followed by a group photo session.
From the Serasa Casting Yard, His Royal Highness proceeded to the Oil Refinery and Petrochemical Plant at Pulau Muara Besar.
The enhancement of infrastructure cooperation and enhancing cooperation on Oil Refinery and Petrochemical Plant at Pulau Muara Besar was one of the matters discussed between His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping during the latter’s State Visit to Brunei Darussalam in November last year.
Upon arrival at the Oil Refinery and Petrochemical Plant Control Room Building at Pulau Muara Besar, His Royal Highness was greeted by Deputy Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw and Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin.
His Royal Highness signed a commemorative plaque, which was preceded by welcoming remarks by the Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry, regarding the development of Pulau Muara Besar and the refinery’s expected contributions to economic development and employment in Brunei Darussalam.
