PEHIN Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs, hosted a Hari Raya gathering at the Mangrove Paradise Resort yesterday, for a delegation of 80 Muslim converts from the neighbouring states of Limbang and Lawas.
Also present at the gathering was Haji Harun bin Haji Junid, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of Religious Affairs.
The delegation, led by Ustaz Shazli bin Dato Sri Haji Abdul Kadir, an officer from the Limbang branch of the Islamic Religious Office in Sarawak, is currently on a two-day goodwill visit to the country to forge close ties among new converts in Brunei and Malaysia.
The delegation also visited the Islamic Da’wah Centre, to explore methods of empowering new converts in addition to exchanging views.
The Malaysian converts even had the opportunity to attend a goodwill gathering with their Brunei counterparts, and perform mass dawn prayers at the Mohamed Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Serusop.
At yesterday’s gathering, Mariana binti Abdullah, the Deputy Chairman of new converts in Limbang, thanked the minister and the staff of Islamic Da’wah Centre for their warm welcome. She said that the visit was beneficial, in terms of planning activities for their converts.
