HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam arrived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia yesterday to attend the 22nd Annual Leaders Consultation between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia which will be held today.
Minister of Economic Affairs of Malaysia as the Minister-in-Attendance Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin bin Ali and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Dato’ Saifuddin bin Abdullah welcomed His Majesty at the Subang Air Base.
Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof and High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Malaysia Dato Paduka Haji Alaihuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Digadong Seri Lela Dato Seri Utama Haji Awang Mohd Taha were also present.
His Majesty then walked past a static guard of honour mounted by members of the 1st Battalion of the Royal Ranger Regiment, the Malaysian Army before boarding a motorcade to a renowned hotel in Kuala Lumpur where His Majesty would be residing throughout the duration of the visit.
During the visit, His Majesty will meet with Prime Minister of Malaysia Tun Dato Laila Utama Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad to discuss matters of mutual interest to both countries.
The Annual Leaders Consulta-tions between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia have been held since 1997 where both countries discuss to expand cooperation in various fields including economy, education, defence, tourism, culture, sports and health. The host country for each consultation is done in turns, and the 21st Annual Leaders Consultation was held on November 23, 2017 in Brunei Darussalam.
Prior to departure from Istana Nurul Iman, a Doa Selamat was recited by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned.
His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present at His Majesty the Sultan’s Flight Hangar in Rimba to bid farewell to His Majesty.
Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria; the Speaker of the Legislative Council; Cabinet Ministers; members of the Privy Council; deputy ministers; the Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force; the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; and High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam (Designate) Ismail bin Haji Salam were also present.
