HER Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah attended the Netfit Netball Workshop organised by the Brunei Darussalam Netball Association (BNA) at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas yesterday.
The Netfit Netball Workshop was facilitated by founder of the Netfit Netball programme in Australia Sarah Wall, who spent 12 years as an elite national netball player playing for the Queensland Firebirds, Melbourne Vixens, NSW Swifts and Giants Netball. Also present were national netball coach Jane Searle, who had stints with the Australian netball team, and Netfit Netball programme coach Sarah Norton.
The class was the last of the week-long Netfit Netball programme which aimed to broaden players’ knowledge and understanding of the game for the sake of the country’s netball development.
During the ‘Programme for School’ recently, the Australian coaches shared their expertise on fitness and conducted training sessions with students from International School Brunei, Jerudong International School, Chung Hwa Middle School, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Secondary School, Pulaie Primary School, Anggerek Desa Primary School, Delima Satu Primary School and Dato Marsal Primary School, Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College, Sports School, Raja Isteri Girls High School (STPRI) and Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam Secondary School.
Training sessions were conducted with the national pool and the national under-21 team in preparation for the Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines and the Asian Youth Championship in Japan.
Netball players were encouraged to use the NETFIT Netball app to keep track of their fitness, including nutrition needs and coaching plan for coaches.
