THE Muslimah Affairs Section at the Department of Mosque Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) and the Mosque Takmir Committee of the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah recently hosted a forum titled ‘Challenges of protecting the family from social epidemic – adultery and drugs’ at the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, Kiarong.
The spouse of the Minister of Religious Affairs Datin Hajah Nahriah binti Haji Asbi was the guest of honour. Female senior officers from the MoRA, Brunei-Muara Muslimah guidance class, students from Jamalul Alam Secondary School, Raja Isteri Girls High School and Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College were also present.
The event began with the mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by the forum moderated by Muslimah guidance class teacher of Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque Ustazah Hajah Rosita binti Yahya.
Panellists included Director of the Fiqh al-Usrah Research Centre of Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan Hajah Aisyah Radhiah binti Haji Abdul Ghani, officer from Community Development Department (JAPEM) Nurul Nazurah binti Jaya and Head Narcotics Officer II at the Prime Minister’s Office Hajah Nordina binti Haji Mohammad.
The forum was aimed at providing awareness to participants so that they would be aware of the current challenges of social illness. The forum also aimed to highlight the importance of women’s role in building a harmonious family.
