A HOUSE at No 49, Simpang 657, Jalan Wasan, Kampong Bebuloh was gutted by a fire on Friday night. The house owner, Damit binti Haji Bustan said no one was injured in the incident.
An emergency call was received at 10.03pm and three fire engines and 10 firefighters from Pengkalan Batu Fire Station rushed to the scene, a Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) press release stated.
The team led by Assistant Superintendent of Fire and Rescue Haji Hassan bin Haji Jamudin, who is also Commander of Pengkalan Batu Fire Station, doused the fire in under five minutes. The firefighters used three jet hoses and water from a nearby fire hydrant and fire engine tanks to douse the flames.
Commanding Officer of Operation ‘F’ branch Superintendent of Fire and Rescue Haji Nordin bin Haji Buntan and Public Relations and Administration Officer, Station Officer Pengiran Haji Ali Abdul Rahman bin Pengiran Haji Halus were also present.
The FRD requested the public to switch off electrical appliances when not in use.
All electrical wiring work must be performed by licensed companies, while lighters, matches and other combustible materials should be kept out of children’s reach, the FRD added.
