A WIDE selection of delicacies prepared by local food vendors from small to prominent names in the food industry are being offered in the week-long Charity Food Fest 2019 launched yesterday evening at the Dermaga Diraja in the capital.
Guest of honour Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong officially launched the event.
The event held at the bank of Brunei River with a scenic view of Kampong Ayer is hoped to help spruce up the atmosphere of the capital especially during the school holidays and also provide a platform for local vendors to showcase their food and beverage products.
With the participation of over 30 local vendors who have the skills and capabilities to produce good quality and tasty food products, the event also serves to encourage them to emerge and promote their businesses and later push for further expansion in the future, as many are online-based businesses.
Apart from the food fest, several activities such as a cat showcase, reptile showcase, archery contest, colouring contest, live auditions and cultural and religious performances are lined up in the event that will conclude on March 31.
During the launching ceremony, the guest of honour presented certificates of participation to all vendors and also donations to selected orphans through proceeds collected from the event.
Charity Food Fest 2019 is jointly organised by AIZ Event Management and Nur Badiah Event Management with the support from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and opens from 10am to 10pm daily.
