HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, yesterday visited M113 Commando Brigade, in Vinh Phuc Province, Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Accompanying His Majesty during the visit was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.
Upon arrival at the M113 Commando Brigade camp, His Majesty was greeted by Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army Major General Ngo Minh Tien and Commander for Vietnam’s Special Forces Major General Do Thanh Binh.
Shortly on arrival, His Majesty was presented with a bouquet of flowers.
His Majesty was then invited to a designated seating area where His Majesty listened to a briefing and witnessed a climbing and rappelling display as well as a hostage rescue demonstration by members of the M113 Commando Brigade.
After the demonstration, His Majesty was invited to view a static display of weapons and military equipment. His Majesty then watched more military demonstrations such as camouflage, shooting, martial arts and armed combat.
During the visit, His Royal Highness was also invited to shoot from a pistol.
Before concluding the visit, His Majesty consented to receive a pesambah, and then presented a gift to the Commander for Vietnam’s Special Forces. His Majesty concluded the visit with a photograph session with the officials and members of M113 Commando Brigade.
M113 Commando Brigade serves as a mobile combat unit of the Vietnamese Commando Corps. Among the main tasks of M113 Commando Brigade is to conduct combat readiness and counter-terrorism training. Since its establishment in 1972, the brigade has been awarded the title Hero of the People’s Armed Forces three times.
