MINISTER of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin officiated the opening ceremony of the 1st Borneo Karatedo Open Championship 2019 at the Multi-purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas yesterday morning.
The championship is organised by Rengokai Karatedo Brunei Darussalam in collaboration with the Brunei Darussalam Karate Federation (BRUKAF).
Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan Federal Territory participated in the two-day tournament.
The minister officially launched the tournament by striking the gong and was introduced to the participating teams.
The minister also witnessed the final of the Kata event and presented medals to the winners.
The tournament will continue today with more finals and medal presentations before the closing ceremony this evening.
