THE Ministry of Education (MoE) held the Israk Mikraj celebration for 1440 Hijrah, jointly organised by the International Affairs Unit and the Secretariat of the National Education Council, at the Main Hall of the MoE’s new building yesterday.
Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman was the guest of honour.
Acting Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the MoE Dr Chin Wei Keh; Acting Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the MoE Aliuddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman; Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Rector Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal; acting vice-chancellors; Acting Director General of Education; heads of departments as well as officials and staff of the MoE were also present.
The ceremony began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Mosque Affairs Officer of Kampong Pintu Malim Mosque Haji Mohd Azrol Alim bin Haji Zaini.
The highlight of the event was a special religious talk entitled Sembahyang Membentuk Umat Bertakwa, based on the National Level Israk Mikraj celebration’s theme for 1440 Hijrah, by Assistant Professor at UNISSA Haji Hambali bin Haji Jaili.
According to a press release, the special religious talk highlighted the significance of the night journey of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) from Masjidil Haram to Masjidil Aqsa.
The event is an annual religious activity carried out by the ministry to enliven the Israk Mikraj celebration as well as to strengthen bonds between the officers and staff at the ministry.

THE Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) commemo-rated the Israk Mikraj celebration for 1440 Hijrah with a religious ceremony at the PMO Complex in Jalan Perdana Menteri yesterday.
Minister at the PMO Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud was the guest of honour.
Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar; Chairman of Public Service Commission; permanent secretaries; heads of departments; senior officers and personnel of the PMO and its departments were also present.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Al-Quran verses by Ahmad Habib Zulwaqar bin Haji Suhaili, followed by a religious talk entitled Sembahyang Membentuk Umat Bertaqwa by Dr Andas Haji Ismuhadi bin Haji Abdullah from the Islamic Da’wah Centre.
The Israk Mikraj celebration is an event held annually by the PMO and its departments with the aim of remembering and learning lessons from the miracles of Israk and Mikraj of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), and adopting them in everyday lives.
The event was jointly organised by the Security and Enforcement Division and Brunei Research Department of the PMO.

THE Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) held the Israk Mikraj celebration at the RBPF headquarters’ auditorium yesterday.
Commissioner of Police Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jammy bin Haji Muhd Shah Al-Islam was present. Senior officers, officers and personnel of RBPF were also present.
Director of the Core Knowledge Centre at the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan Dr Haji Noralizam bin Haji Aliakbar presented a talk on the miracle of Israk Mikraj.
Themed ‘Islam Cares the Heart of All’, the talk highlighted the history, events and obstacles faced by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), which was overcome by perseverance of the Prophet depicting his strong faith and emulated by Muslims all over the world.

THE Ministry of Defence (MinDef) held its Israk Mikraj celebration for 1440 Hijrah at Surau Ad-Difa’ in Bolkiah Garrison last night. Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof was the guest of honour.
Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud along with members of the Defence Executive Committee, senior officers, officers and personnel from the MinDef and RBAF were also present.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Al-Quran followed by a mass Maghrib prayer.
It continued with the recitation of Surah Yaasiin followed by a religious talk with the theme Sembahyang Membentuk Umat Bertaqwa delivered by Dr Haji Harapandi bin Dahri from the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB).
The ceremony concluded with the mass Isyak prayer.
Meanwhile, there were other similar events throughout the suraus in all of the RBAF Garrisons and camps.
