HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam bestowed honorary medals on a total of 235 recipients, in a State Investiture Ceremony held yesterday at the Balai Singgahsana Indera Kencana, Istana Nurul Iman, in conjunction with His Majesty’s 70th birthday celebrations.
Accompanying His Majesty to the ceremony were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah; and His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik.
The first honorary medal was the Most Honourable Order of Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei, Third Class (SMB), which was bestowed on 28 men and 14 women, from various government ministries and departments, as well as from the private sector.
Among the first to receive the SMB honorary medal were Haji Dennie bin Haji Abdullah, the Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police; Mohammad Irwan bin Haji Hambali; Dr Azman bin Ahmad; and Salminan bin Haji Burut.
Meanwhile, seven men and four women from the Ministry of Religious Affairs received the Most Eminent Order of Islam Brunei, Fourth Class (SUB).
Among the recipients were Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Besar, the Acting Ra’es of Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB); Pengiran Anak Dr Haji Amiruddin Alam Shah bin Pengiran Anak Haji Ismail; Haji Muhammad Bahrin bin Haji Alias; Hajah Hadiyati binti Haji Abdul Hadi; Hajah Siti Mastura binti Haji Mahmud; Hajah Nurul Akmalina binti Haji Yahya; and Siti Huzzaimah Yadey binti Haji Rosli.
The Most Blessed Order of Setia Negara Brunei, Fourth Class (PSB) was presented to 96 men and 73 women.
Leading the line to receive the honorary medal from His Majesty were Yang Amat Mulia Superintendent Pengiran Anak Haji Mohd Saifullah bin Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris; and YB Awang Haji Jumat bin Akim, a member of Legislative Council.
Also in the line were Captain Sharifah Czarena Suriany binti Syed Hashim, Senior First Officer Sariana binti Nordin and Senior First Officer Dayangku Nadiah binti Pengiran Khashiem – the female pilots of Royal Brunei Airlines.
The Most Eminent Order of Islam Brunei, Fifth Class (PUB) was bestowed on 17 personnel from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The ceremony concluded after a reading of the Doa Selamat by Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.
The event was also attended by Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria, Cabinet Ministers, Pengiran-Pengiran Peranakan, Legislative Council members, state dignitaries, ambassadors, permanent secretaries, department heads and senior government officers.
