HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam received in audience Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina at Cheradi Laila Kenchana of Istana Nurul Iman yesterday.
Upon arrival at the Istana Nurul Iman, His Majesty welcomed Sheikh Hasina and introduced her to members of the royal family.
His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah; and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and other members of the royal family were present at the audience ceremony.
Sheikh Hasina, who is in Brunei Darussalam on a three-day official visit, was accompanied by Minister for Agriculture Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, Private Industry and Investment Adviser to the Prime Minister Salman Fazlur Rahman, State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmad, State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Zahid Ahsan Russel, Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid, State Minister for Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Md Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru, and State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid.
Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong as the Minister-in-Attendance and High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Haji Haris bin Othman were also present.
Following the audience ceremony, His Majesty held a bilateral meeting with Sheikh Hasina at Baitul Mesyuarah, where they exchanged views on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual concern.
His Majesty and Shiekh Hasina then witnessed the signing of six Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between the Government of His Majesty and the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh – the Memorandum of Understanding on Scientific and Technical Cooperation in the field of Agriculture, the Memorandum of Understanding on the Cooperation in the field of Fisheries, the Memorandum of Understanding on the Cooperation in the field of Livestock, the Memorandum of Understanding on the field of Cooperation in the Supply of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), the Memorandum of Understanding on the Cooperation in the field of Youth and Sports, and the Memorandum of Understanding on Cultural and Arts Cooperation.
Also present to witness the signings was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah.
A joint statement between both countries was also issued.
