THE 31st Olympic Games was launched by Brazilian Acting President, Michel Temer.
The opening ceremony was held at Maracana Stadium.
In attendance to watch the ceremony was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council.
About 10,000 participants are participating In the Olympic Games this time.
The Bruneian contingent is being led by Chef de Mission Ummi Kalthum binti Haji Abdul Karim. Brunei
Athletes are involved with two sports, namely athletics and badminton.
