In support of locally-owned businesses and as the sole local distributor for the Daihatsu brand, GHK Motors yesterday invited the proprietors of the Greenwheel Food Truck from Al Taib Enterprise to the main showroom for a live-cook demo.

Throughout the event, both GHK Motors and Al Taib adhered to the Ministry of Health (MoH)’s regulations by observing social distancing measures and avoiding mass gatherings.
Al-Taib Enterprise recently purchased a Daihatsu food truck from GHK Motors and operates under the name of Greenwheel, for selling their signature kolo mee from the vehicle.

Mohd Izan Azwan bin Yahya of Al Taib expressed gratitude and appreciation to GHK Motors for supporting their business, particularly during the COVID-19 outbreak, saying, “It’s certainly a positive initiative, especially in terms of giving back to their customers.”

Al Taib’s signature kolo mee came about after doing market research in which it was discovered that the majority of food trucks were selling fast food such as burgers and roti john.

On seeing this, the family decided to make use of their very own kolo mee recipe as the
main business.

The family began business operations at the Gerai Ramadhan drive-through at Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, after which they moved to the Silver Jubilee Park in Kiulap.

Recently, they were asked to move to the Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas parking space in the capital, for a two-month trial near the BIBD Connects building.

Like other businesses in the food and beverage sector, Greenwheel has been significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly given its newcomer status. “As a newcomer, we intend to stay positive during the virus outbreak and adapt to the current business flow. Once everything is back to normal, we’ll resume business as usual,” said Mohd Izan Azwan.

“GHK has also done a good job in tailoring and assembling our food truck. We are very satisfied with the results, which turned out to be beyond our expectations.”

GHK Motors offers Daihatsu and Maxus brand vehicles which are customisable to mobile kitchens, according to customers’ business needs and requirements.

All of the fabrication works from the interior to exterior equipment such as ovens, cabinets, fryers, refrigerator and tables are provided and carried out locally by GHK Auto Assembly Sdn Bhd.

The food truck dealer also provides assistance for the application of a permit to Land Transport Department, if required.

By assisting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the food business, GHK Motors hopes to contribute towards the Brunei Government’s initiative in encouraging local business start-ups.
