The Youth Community Transformation Club (KKBT) in collaboration with Syarikat Makan Ceria McDonald’s Sdn Bhd yesterday continued with the second part of the ‘Berbagi Rezeki KKBT McDonald’s Brunei 1 Meal 1 Love’ project to distribute food from a donation collection held from May 11 to 17.
The distribution was carried out by members of KKBT from the Youth Centre Bandar Seri Begawan.
The project is run by Youth and Sports Department under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and co-executed by KKBT and Syarikat Makan Ceria McDonald’s Brunei. The project collected 1,062 set meals.
Chairman of KKBT and Assistant Supervisor of the Youth Centre Bandar Seri Begawan Ibrahim bin Haji Sabli said that the distribution yesterday was for cleaners around the capital where 132 packs were distributed.
The chairman added that the Berbagi Rezeki project is held annually by KKBT not only during Ramadhan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri but also whenever the need arises in Brunei Darussalam.
“KKBT hopes for the youth out there to join in activities that will be held at the Youth Centre Bandar Seri Begawan. It is not only for the youth themselves as there will be community activities taking place as well,” said Ibrahim.
McDonald’s Brunei Marketing Manager Noor Hafilah binti Md Salleh said that this is its first ‘1 Meal 1 Love’ project where the first week of the project was donated by McDonald’s Brunei, while the rest was donated by their customers.
“We’re hoping that this will not just be during Ramadhan but to continue in the long run,” said Noor Hafilah. “We’re thankful to KKBT for choosing McDonald’s Brunei to be a part of this project.”
The distribution of the set meals was carried out in phases throughout the months of Ramadhan and Syawal.
The first phase of the distribution in the month of Syawal was held at the Welfare Home Complex on May 30. The distributions totalled five phases where the month of Ramadhan saw three distributions, while the month of Syawal saw two distributions.
Three types of set meals were prepared during the second week of the promotional season where customers had the opportunity to buy a set meal prepared for the project.
The target recipients are frontline workers whose work are less noticeable but play a big role in ensuring the cleanliness of sidewalks, main streets, shop lanes, recreational parks and public restrooms.
The project received positive feedback and response from the public.
