Malaysian travellers are required to fill the applications for entering Brunei Darussalam, as they pass the Sultanate along their journey via land between Miri, Limbang, Lawas and Sabah.
Sarawak Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin said this requirement still applies even when the Miri-Lawas, Limbang-Sabah route is considered inter-district and interstate travels, which are allowed under the more-relaxed Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO), Malaysian media reported.
“I’ve received many calls from Mirians, who want to know further about travelling procedures while passing the Brunei Immigration checkpoint. Although the government allows inter-district and interstate travelling during RMCO, those wanting to go to Limbang, Lawas and Sabah via land and would be passing Brunei along the way, would still need to submit their travelling applications,” said Lee, who is the minister-in-charge for Miri Division Disaster Management Committee.
“Upon receiving the greenlight from the state government, all the necessary documents must be attached and submitted via immigration at www.immigration.gov.bn, for the next approval process by the Brunei Government. These are the set standard operating procedures (SOPs) that local travellers must comply with before they could pass Brunei en route to their destinations,” added Datuk Lee.
