THE Immigration and National Registration Department (JIPK) led a joint operation involving five other agencies including the Labour Department, Re-ligious Enforcement, Customs Preventive and Criminal In-vestigation Department Police and Human Trafficking Unit Police.
The operation dubbed ‘Ops Bersepadu Kesan JIPK 59/2016’ was carried out on August 16, from 9.30pm to 1.30am.
The immigration officers detained two foreigners, a man and a woman, at a rented room in Mukim Gadong and Mukim Kianggeh. The man was detained for overstaying for 3,625 days and the woman for 389 days.
Customs preventive officers detained a man in possession of smuggled cigarettes at Mukim Kianggeh.
The Labour Department also detained two foreign workers.
The JIPK urged members of the public to report any information related to immigration offences to the department at 8753888 or 8734888. Details of informants will be kept confidential.
