Hengyi Industries awards scholarships to 18 students

Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd has awarded scholarships to 18 students from Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) during a Scholarship Signing Ceremony at The Empire Brunei.

Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad was the guest of honour.

The second batch of students to receive the scholarship under the Joint Refinery Operator Scholarship Programme brings the total of awarded scholarships to 48 students. The programme was established by Hengyi Industries with IBTE and Lanzhou Petrochemical Polytechnic College (LPP).

Signing on behalf of Hengyi Industries was Chief Executive Officer of Hengyi Industries Chen Lian Cai, while the students signed their respective agreements.

As part of the programme, the 18 students have completed their one-year studies at IBTE Jefri Bolkiah Campus, and are undergoing their institutional-based training online with the professors from LPP.

They will complete their final year of the programme through an on-the-job-training with Hengyi Industries at Pulau Muara Besar where they will gain valuable first-hand experience working in a real-life operational production plant.

Upon completing the three-year programme, the scholars will be offered full-time employment opportunities with Hengyi Industries as Refinery Operator.

Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam Yu Hong was also present at the ceremony.
