Meeting discusses SEAMEO Centres development

Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education (MoE) Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin attended the virtual Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Executive Committee Meeting 2020 recently.

The annual meeting was attended by members of the Executive Committee for 2020 comprising officials from the Ministries of Education from Malaysia (as Chair of the SEAMEO Council), Singapore (as next Chair of SEAMEO Council), Indonesia (as previous Chair of the SEAMEO Council), with Brunei Darussalam and Vietnam as nominated members together with the SEAMEO Secretariat Director as ex-officio member.

The members of the Executive Committee were tasked to advise the SEAMEO officials on the overall thrusts and effort of the SEAMEO Units, set directions and make recommendations on the management of the SEAMEO Secretariat and the overall development of the SEAMEO Centres.

The discussion included the proposed SEAMEO Strategic Plan 2021-2030 outlined in the new roadmap for the next decade of enhancing regional understanding, cooperation and unity of purpose.

The session concluded by adopting the various agenda which will be presented at the SEAMEO Higher Official Meetings in November.
