His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam presented the rank insignia of Major General to Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat; and appointed him as the 11th Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) at Istana Nurul Iman yesterday.
In attendance was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office.
Major General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah previously held several key posts including the 14th Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force from August 15, 2018 to August 28, 2020; the Joint Force Commander of the RBAF and Chief of Staff (COS) of the Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ). At the ceremony, a Doa Selamat was recited by Head of the RBAF Religious Department Commander Haji Ainolnizam bin Haji Ibrahim, RBN.
Then, His Majesty received in audience the newly appointed Commander of the RBAF and former RBAF Commander Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud.
Also present were Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, as well as Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, service commanders, and deputy permanent secretaries at the Ministry of Defence as well as family members of the new RBAF Commander.
