CHUNG Hwa Middle School (CHMS), BSB, has been endorsed as Microsoft Showcase School 2016 – 2017 for the third consecutive year. The school has reasons to celebrate, one being that it was the first school in the country to bag this title back in 2014-2015.
The trilingual school located in the capital has proven its excellence through splendid accomplishments and its integration of technology in learning, which leads to empowerment of students.
With its distinguished global recognition Showcase School 2016-2017 awarded by Microsoft, the school vows to continue its progressive approach fuelled with technology to bring holistic education to its students.
The school is committed to ensuring the well-being of the future generation and has always been in the forefront, leading other schools in the country. It is proud to have evolved significantly in its approach with technology and has transformed expeditiously. With numerous awards and accolades in academics, ICT and sports, the school is now recognised at the global level. As a Microsoft Showcase School, it now has the privilege to share the status with an elite community of 851 showcase schools and Microsoft schools across the globe.
CHMS BSB has also forged strong partnerships with the Ministry of Education (Brunei Darussalam) and has open its doors to collaboration with other schools in the Asean region. The school revels in exceptional efforts and innovation while rethinking teaching, learning and assessment in order to drive deep 21st Century competencies with an exclusive community of premier schools around the world.
“A dazzling dream and a memorable journey” is how Kho Guik Lan described the third continuous year with Microsoft, adding that “if the Microsoft Showcase School title 2014-2015 gave us a head start, this year’s recognition justifies the true value of our school.”
“We keep tabs of transforming our school consistently and provide ample opportunities for our students and teachers to excel.
“The passion and dedication of teachers, the unimpeded support offered by the Board of Directors, our excellent students are the major influence for CHMS, BSB, to move towards this recognition. Our main objective is to impart quality education in more effective ways than we imagined. “Microsoft tools have allowed us to adapt effective strategies in teaching and learning. Microsoft has enabled us to come out with innovative ways in teaching and learning methodology,” she added.
The school also has another reason to celebrate – its teachers have once again been recognised as Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert for 2016 – 2017. The school has been a part of this MIE Expert programme for the fourth successive year and every year its experts list is growing.
The school’s educators have constantly proved their excellence in various competitions in the recent years. The transition initiated by Computer Technology is praiseworthy and the way it is incorporated in the classroom has transformed the classroom learning outlook.
“Microsoft Showcase Schools are inspiring examples of how schools are using mobile-first, cloud-first technology to increase students’ productivity and develop the skills needed in the workplace,” said Anthony Salcito, Vice President, Worldwide Education, Microsoft Corporation.
“Microsoft Showcase Schools are the change makers in education. These schools thoughtfully consider the role of technology as they explore new ways to redesign learning spaces, restructure curriculum, reinvent pedagogy and reimagine what 21st Century leading and learning looks like across diverse contexts.”
