Some would reminisce at the blast from the past brought on by the films; others have their curiosity sparked about the countries the films originated from.

Wazir, a crime thriller, narrated the story of a friendship between a policeman and a disabled man led by unusual circumstance.
On Sunday, the BFB also featured Ada Apa Dengan Cinta?, a film that single handedly revived the Indonesian film industry from economic collapse. Crowds flocked the amphitheatre to catch the powerful film portraying the life of normal teenagers.

Fika Noor Muhammad, who was in the audience shared, “When we saw its screening, I wanted to watch it because when it was released in 2002, I was very young. It was my parents’ favourite movie. I missed home so much so that it was nice to catch it here and see how the locals responded to the film”.

While commercial films were screening at the JP Mini Amphitheatre, Indonesian festival movies such as Mudik produced by Sheila Timothy was screened at the MIAA. A guest speaker for the BFB Film Education Workshops in 2019, Sheila was also the BFB guest judge this year.

“Through a film, an audience can experience what Pakistan looks like, its natural beauty, the people and its culture. The BFB is a fantastic way to exchange cultures through entertainment.”
The guests were also treated to a range of Pakistani cuisine.
A budding film student Hamizah Hamzah said, “It is not everyday that we get to watch Pakistani films. I did not know what to expect but these screenings sparked my curiosity.”
Meanwhile the Film Fun Day in JP attracted over 200 movie-goers to the JP Mini Amphitheatre who flocked to catch Wild Oats, a comedy adventure film produced by Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim and Origin Artistic Management’s 2020 film Akademi.
Festival Director Siti Kamaluddin said that BFB was fortunate to screen movies produced by the late Prince and honour his work.
“Hosting Wild Oats and The Time of Their Lives was a way of inviting local audiences to
reflect upon the work of an important Bruneian filmmaker. We thank Imagine for making this happen,” she added.
Also at the screening was film star Liyana Yus.
For Liyana, “it is a way of honouring someone who has always pushed for the creative arts and created a path for others to follow.”
There are no easy paths to success; it can only be achieved through hardwork and determination.

“Therefore, believe in yourself, exercise patience and remember, all the efforts and hardwork do start from the bottom up in order to progress to the next level,” said the minister. “Our only hope is for you to be brave and never back down from challenging yourself to being the best. Remember today is not the end but it is the beginning of
a journey.”

The minister added that initiatives should continue to be the focus on high demand courses such as butchery, barber and sewing with the aim of introducing heavy vehicle driver training in the near future.

Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong launched the opening of ‘The Garden Rhapsodies – Paintings, Poetry and Stories by Huifong Ng’ yesterday.

The exhibition is part of the Brunei December Festival 2020, with the MPRT as a strategic partner.
The Garden Rhapsodies is a book written by local artist and author Huifong Ng during the self-distancing months. It tells the story of her art journey in France and how she lost, found, sowed and bloomed her dream of becoming a painter one day after her return to Brunei Darussalam.
‘’A garden always fills me with wonderment, beyond its beauty, of life and strength of continuing to exist. There are insects and small animals, buds waiting to bloom and fruits waiting to be harvested. There are also fallen leaves and withered flowers,” Ng said in her welcoming remarks.
“A garden enjoys its days of warm sunlight and gentle breeze and it also braves tempestuous rainfalls and strong monsoons. A garden lives and strives; poetic it may appear to be, but at the same time a garden is very much like life.

The Youth Transformation Community Club (KKBT) of the Youth Centre organised a road signage cleaning campaign as part of the Day of Action 2020 (DOA 2020) and in conjunction with International Volunteer Day (IVD).
The Sunday campaign, supported by the Department of Youth and Sports (JBS) of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports saw the involvement of 70 volunteers between 15 and 50.
After a safety briefing, the volunteers were split into groups and deployed to seven checkpoints along Jalan Kota Batu to Jalan Muzium Teknologi Melayu.
The campaign aimed to instil in volunteers a sense of responsibility in maintaining public amenities, foster the teamwork spirit and beautify our roads. Meanwhile, in marking IVD, several groups banded together for a cleaning campaign in Seria organised by the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Sultan Bolkiah Campus (SBC).
IBTE students and staff stepped forward for the clean-up last Saturday morning, joined by members of village consultative council (MPK) under Mukim Seria and Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) volunteers. Acting Penghulu of Mukim Seria Haji Saidin bin Haji Ibrahim welcomed the team.

The campaign was held across two locations – the surrounding of the STKRJ Lorong Tiga Selatan barracks and the An-Naim Cemetery at Anduki.
IBTE School of Energy and Engineering Satellite Acting Head Hajah Siti Hazizah binti Haji Masri said the campaign sought to encourage volunteerism not only on IVD, but in daily lives.
“With this cleaning campaign, we help to instil the habit and understanding among participants and the public that the responsibility of maintaining cleanliness and beauty of the environment is the responsibility of the masses,” she said.
She hoped the campaign will continue as an annual tradition for the campus to work closely with agencies not only to help build a stable and fruitful relationship with the community, but also to encourage the students and staff to find avenues to give back to the community.
The first group cleared discards and blocked drains at the barracks, with aid from the MPK under Mukim Seria and BSP Fire and Emergency Response Services, while the second group at the An-Naim Cemetery spruced up the area and installed wired fences to maintain the safety of visitors.
Additionally, the Museums Department and the MPK Labu Estate conducted a cleaning campaign at the Labu Estate Rubber Plantation recently.
The Labu Estate Rubber Plantation was the first and last commercial plantation in Brunei Darussalam.
