Twenty-eight members of the Mohamed Bolkiah Mosque Muslimah Group took a closer look at activities by Temburong District’s Village Consultative Councils under the Temburong One Village, One Product (1K1P) package offered by Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd (DHSB) yesterday.
The group’s first stop was at the Kampong Sibut Longhouse, where they were greeted by Acting Village Head of Kampong Sibut Haji Suhaili. They viewed products made at the longhouse and a cooking demonstration to make bamboo chicken, a traditional delicacy.
The group then proceeded to the Kampong Batu Apoi Village Consultative Council, where they were briefed on the process of extracting and producing sago from the trunk of the
rumbia tree.
At Kampong Puni Village Consultative Council, they watched the methods involved in producing salted duck eggs.
Head of the Muslimah Group Datin Hajah Rosni binti Haji Tungkat said the trip was their first to Temburong District, since the opening of the Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Bridge.
“Temburong with its green forests is very unique, and I do hope that development in the district will further progress after the opening of the bridge,” she said.
“We were quite impressed by the products from the village consultative councils, and if another opportunity arises, we’d like to visit other village consultative councils in Temburong.”
