In conjunction with the 50th anniversary celebration of the changing name of Bandar Brunei to Bandar Seri Begawan, a recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil for the late parents of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman was held at the Royal Mausoleum yesterday.
The ceremony is of national significance in remembering the services of a king and Ulul Amri who was also known as the Arkitek Brunei Moden (Modern Brunei Architect).
Bandar Seri Begawan has undergone rapid progress and development over the years with infrastructural changes seen to provide convenience and enjoyment for the people and residents of Brunei Darussalam.
Present at the ceremony were Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, members of the Legislative Council, permanent secretaries at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), deputy permanent secretaries, heads of departments, members of Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Board, senior officers and officers of the departments under the MoHA and mukim penghulus in Bandar Seri Begawan area.
The religious ceremony was led by Mosque Affairs Officer at Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Mosque in Kampong Rimba Mohammad Adham bin Hashim.
