An attempt to smuggle bottles of alcohol, counterfeit Malaysian ringgit, drug paraphernalia and a plastic package containing crystal substance was discovered by Temburong Police Station personnel during a routine patrol at the area in Kampong Batang Tuau on Monday.
Police nabbed two local suspects attempting to escape with the contraband.
Temburong Police District Acting Commanding Officer DSP Pengiran Saifuddin bin Pengiran Haji Yussof revealed these details at a press conference yesterday.
“Police personnel on a crime prevention patrol noticed a suspicious red vehicle at Kampong Batang Tuau. On noticing police presence, the occupants in the vehicle attempted to escape.
Police stopped the vehicle at Jalan Labu area and detained the two locals aged 26 and 33,” the Acting Commanding Officer said.
Police discovered 146 bottles of alcohol, counterfeit Malaysian ringgit, drug paraphernalia and a plastic package containing crystal substance hidden inside a cigarette box.
The case was handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau and Royal Customs and Excise Department. The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) requested the public to share information on criminal activities by contacting 993 and police stations.
