Elderly dies in Kuala Belait car crash

An elderly man died after he lost control of the vehicle he was driving at a roundabout at Jalan Singa Menteri, Kuala Belait yesterday.

Investigations revealed the man had passed away due to a heart ailment resulting from the accident.

The local aged 66, who was rushed to Suri Seri Begawan Hospital, Kuala Belait, was pronounced dead before admission.

The Kuala Belait Police Station received an emergency call about the accident at 9.40am. The police, Emergency Medical Ambulance Services Paramedic and the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) were dispatched to the site of the accident immediately.

The man was believed to have been travelling to Kuala Belait.

The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) reminded the public to be mindful of their health while driving and to adhere to road rules and regulations.

The RBPF also urged drivers and passengers to always wear the seat belt and to avoid driving when feeling unwell.
