The Kampong Bukit Sawat Village Consultative Council (MPK) organised a ‘Tamu Gayoh Sungai Mau’ at the village’s recreational park on Sunday.
Belait District Officer Ramlee bin Haji Jamudin, accompanied by his wife Nur Farhana binti Abdullah Ajak, officiated.
They were welcomed by Penghulu of Mukim Bukit Sawat Haji Mohd Salleh bin Haji Othman and Kampong Bukit Sawat Village Head Mohammad bin Abdullah.
Legislative Council members, Penghulu of Mukim Liang Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin and Acting Penghulu of Mukim Labi 1 Yang Berhormat Awang Hanapi bin Mohd Siput were also present.
The event began with the ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a group photo.

It proceeded with a four-kilometre-long ‘Manau’thon – a reference to the local Dusun language with Manau meaning walk – by the Belait District Officer and guests.
The group trekked along the route circling the area of the village before returning to
the market.
The guests were also treated to silat performances by youth followed by visits to booths and stalls selling local products and services, many of which were under the One Village One Product (1K1P). Following the launching ceremony, the Belait District Officer also visited the Sunday market at the Teraja Longhouse and Mendaram Besar Longhouse.
MPK Kampung Bukit Sawat aims to ensure the Tamu Gayoh remains a monthly activity to enliven the village atmosphere and provide opportunities for entrepreneurs to showcase products.
