The Enforcement Division of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board issued a compound fine of BND200 to a company yesterday.
The company, based in the Brunei-Muara District, was discovered to have disposed unwanted building materials at public premises in Kuala Belait. The Enforcement Division issued a compound fine to the company for violating Chapter 30 Section 12(1)(a) of the Minor Offences Act.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Syarif was fined BND100 on Tuesday for disposing waste materials at a forest area in Kuala Belait.
The offenders were given seven days to settle the fine, and if failing to do so the case will be forwarded to the courts. If found guilty, the accused will be handed a further BND1,000 fine or a month’s imprisonment; while subsequent offences will see a penalty of BND3,000 fine or imprisonment of not more than three months.
The Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board reminded the public and business owners to ensure the cleanliness of the surrounding environment.
The Enforcement Division of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board also carries out patrols to ensure that trash is disposed at designated area, and will issue compound fines to those who litters, in particular for the public disposing trash at bin centres designated for use by business owners at commercial buildings such as at the Pasarneka Kuala Belait or Gerai Bunga Simpur.
