Graduating students attend religious ceremony

Two hundred and sixteen graduating students of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), 73 males and 143 females, participated in a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony yesterday.

The ceremony was held at two venues. For male students, the event was held at Surau Al-Syafi’i while for the female students, at the university’s auditorium. UNISSA Rector Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal was the guest of honour.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour, followed by the recitation of Surah Adh-Dhuhaa until Surah An-Nas by the students. The ceremony then continued with the recitation of Takhtim and concluded with Doa Khatam by Awangku Muhamad Zul Iskandar bin Pengiran Zulkifli, a Bachelor of Science in Islamic Finance student. At the auditorium, the recitation was led by Dayangku Siti Nurkhairina binti Pengiran Metusin who is pursuing a Bachelor of Usuluddin (Tafsir and Hadith).

Dr Haji Norarfan presented certificates of participation to the male students, while Assistant Rector (Academic) Associate Professor Dr Siti Sara binti Haji Ahmad presented the certificates to the female students.

Dikir Marhaban was recited and the event concluded with a Doa Kesyukuran led by Abdul Muhaimin bin Dr Haji Serbini, a Syariah (Fiqh and Usul) undergraduate and Nurul Hikmah binti Hidzam taking a Bachelor of Syariah (Fiqh and Judiciary) in conjunction with the upcoming graduation ceremony.
