Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah officially inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with LiveWIRE Brunei yesterday, in line with Yayasan’s Strategic Plan (2020-2025) to support achievement in self-sustainability.

The signing was held at the Yayasan Headquarters at Jalan Perdana Menteri.

Yayasan and LiveWIRE Brunei have been in collaboration since 2018, and have conducted 14 workshops to date.

The workshops aim to ensure recipients of the entrepreneurship capital assistance (under Yayasan’s Welfare Funding Scheme) are equipped with necessary skills.

The welfare assistance recipients are required to participate in the workshop before they are inserted into the welfare assistance scheme to provide them with capital assistance to start up and grow their businesses, and then recognised as Bekarih entrepreneurs of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

Aside from entrepreneurship workshops, Yayasan and LiveWIRE Brunei also monitors and provides advice and guidance services to recipients.

Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use and Environment) at the Ministry of Development Dr Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak signed the MoU in her capacity as Acting Managing Director of Yayasan, while LiveWIRE Brunei was represented by Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) In-Country Value Manager and LiveWIRE Brunei Chairperson Hajah Rosita binti Haji Hassan.

Dr Nor Imtihan said Yayasan hopes to explore new collaboration opportunities between the two establishments, and get LiveWIRE Brunei to come up with more ideas on how best Yayasan can help the target group.

Hajah Rosita welcomed the collaboration, noting that LiveWIRE Brunei not only offers entrepreneurship education, but also other programmes.

She said LiveWIRE Brunei is ready to help target group achieve self-sustainability.

LiveWIRE Brunei will continue to support Yayasan in realising its vision to produce successful entrepreneurs able to support themselves.
