THE Guild of Graduates of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (GOG-UBD) recently organised the 5th Talk Series at UBD Student Centre.
The series is an education seminar that brings in Brunei’s best public speakers to instil ideas on how the working environment would be in the business world. It aims to help alumni and university undergraduates to develop their confidence and skills.
This seminar was opened to members of GOG-UBD (alumni), members of the Students Association of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (PMUBD) and the public.
The talk featured experienced public speaker Mohammad Sophiaan. He is the Head of Risk Management of PB Trading Sdn Bhd, and was previously the Head of Business Development, PETCO Trading Labuan Corp Ltd and Head of Marketing – Atlantic/WAF Region, London office with over 20 years of experiences in marketing, crude sourcing and trading of crude oil and LNG, account services for domestic retail business, group advisory for risk management as well as risk management in line businesses and corporate position.

A finance person by training, Sophiaan’s core area of focus in current position is to oversee the role of risk management in PB Trading Sdn Bhd. Previously, he was with Business Development Petroleum Products, PETCO Trading Labuan in developing a profitable trading positions and sustainable market growth for the company.
Mohammad Sophiaan presented a 45 minutes speech by sharing his vast knowledge on risk management and its best practices.
He also emphasised the importance of risk management in daily routines, and how to identify, analyse, mitigate and monitor the risk.
