THE 4WD Challenge in Tutong reached its final yesterday.
It was held in conjunction with the 70th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
The event was held at the open area near Mahad Islam Brunei. A total of 56 individuals – four of whom from neighbouring countries – took part in the Individual Open Category. Twelve individual participants and 15 teams demonstrated their skills at the final yesterday.
The finals was attended by Haji Mohammad Sunadi bin Haji Buntar, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs as the guest of honour.
The Individual Open Category was won by Ah Wee with a time of five minutes 42 seconds. The runner-up went to Lenny Weeny Lim with a time of seven minutes. The second runner-up went to Mohd Usly Zam bin Budin. Fourth place went to Abdul Rahman bin Haji Abdul Hamid and fifth place to Ah Kee.
In the Team Event, the challenge was won by Ah Wee Team, followed in a second place by Samdi Team B and in the third place by Oxy Extreme Team.
The competition was organised by the 4WD Association of Tutong District. The association has organised the challenge over the past 20 years, and this year sees an encouraging number of participants compared to previous years.
