The Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI) through its Muallaf Development Section and the Tutong District Dakwah Unit handed over donations of basic necessities to 23 convert families in the Tutong District yesterday. The initiative was held in collaboration with Kumpulan Amal Jariah and Persatuan Kereta Tahan Lasak Brunei (PKLTB).
Muallaf Development Section Head Dr Hajah Rohanita binti Haji Yaakub led the 15 4WD vehicle convoy, whose initial meeting point was at the Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam in Kampong Jerudong. Dr Hajah Rohanita lauded the generosity of the two associations involved in the charity mission, and hopes such collaborations will continue.
Prior to setting off, a Doa was read by Muallaf Development Section Officer Haji Zulhilmi bin Haji Lakat.
The convoy first visited the home of a convert in Kampong Lamunin, Tutong, before proceeding to the Kampong Biong Mosque, where the group was joined by more PKLTB members and the Acting Village Head of Kampong Merimbun and Kampong Kuala Ungar Sani bin Nangkat, who guided the convoy. The convoy journeyed further into Kampong Kuala Ungar to the homes of 22 families. The contributions hopes to meet the converts’ daily needs and alleviate their burden.
Mohd Jusua bin Abdullah who converted over a decade ago, expressed gratitude for the contributions and the PDI’s concern for the welfare of the converts.
Mohd Jusua, his wife and two children expressed gratitude to the two associations, adding that they were touched by their involvement in the mission. “My family and I are always thankful for the assistance rendered to us since my conversion, and how we are not left out despite staying far away,” said Mohd Jusua, who takes on odd jobs to make ends meet.
Meanwhile, Amal Najibah binti Masor, her child and her husband, also received contributions.
The trio lives with her family (some of whom are also converts) as they are unable to afford their own house.
Her husband, Mohd Noh Rizal bin Abdullah, was recently employed as a security personnel.
“We are very grateful for this assistance initiated by the PDI, and the involvement of the Kumpulan Amal Jariah and PKTLB. It feels good to be remembered, despite staying in a remote village. We can’t thank them enough and we pray for them to be blessed always,” said Mohd Noh.
The charity mission also saw a contribution of toys and gifts from three expatriates residing here. This included a bicycle, presented to a visibly delighted boy during one of the house visits.
Also joining the convoy were officers from the Muallaf Development Section and Tutong District Dakwah Unit along with committee members of both associations.
