The Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) Muara branch is holding a fire prevention course for 23 of its officials, the Mengkubau volunteer community and Muara library members.
The three-day course will equip participants with skills in fire prevention and public safety management. It will also assess their efficiency in providing immediate assistance during emergencies, in accordance with the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) standards.
Deputy Station Officer Mohd Hazwan bin Mawang, Assistant Station Officer Rustam Effandi bin Haji Metussin and a public relations officer from Operation ‘A’ are facilitating the programme.
The programme will include briefings on the roles and functions of the FRD and fire marshals, what to do in the event of a fire and evacuation regulations, among others.
Participants will also learn techniques on how to escape a dark building by entering a smoke house, and carrying/saving a victim; experience a fire extinguishing practical and fire drill; visit fire stations; and sit for a written test and in-house fire drill. Meanwhile, 36 participants comprising Mosque Takmir committee members and Kampong Tanah Jambu residents joined the Live Saver 995 talk last Sunday.
The talk at the Kampong Tanah Jambu Mosque was organised by the Public Relations HQ of the FRD.
Attendees learnt the proper procedures on operating a fire extinguisher and what to do when encountering fires.
